If you use %s (closely related to the Unix epoch time) to parse or format your datetime data, do you have datetime values that are either unzoned, or zoned but NOT in UTC time?
When formatting
- Unzoned datetime: 2017-01-02T03:04:05 ? What should formatting with %s return?
- Zoned, UTC datetime: 2017-01-02T03:04:05+00:00 ? Formatting with %s is unambiguous.
- Zoned, non-UTC datetime: 2017-01-02T03:04:05-08:00 ? What should formatting with %s return?
When parsing/interpreting
- Epoch time: 0 ? Is this 1970-01-01T00:00:00 (unzoned) or 1970-01-01T00:00:00+00:00 (UTC)?
- Epoch time: 0-01:00 ? Is this 1970-01-01T00:00:00-01:00 or 1970-01-01T01:00:00-01:00 or 1970-01-01T01:00:00+00:00 or…?
We'd highly appreciate any comments and suggestions, and any sample data with its interpretation.
