What version of Esri ArcGIS can I install for use with FME Server?
In order to use FME Server with Esri-related formats, you will need to have Esri software installed and licensed on the same system. Please be aware of the following:
* Please note we cannot speak to the legality of using an Esri license. For more information please check with Esri regarding your licensing agreement for using the ArcGIS software specifically in regards to using it within Server Environments.
In order for the FME Server to obtain and use an Esri license, a Windows Service Account user must be used that has 'Administrator' level permissions. See the documentation for information on changing the service account settings: Running FME Server Engines Under a Different Account
It is possible to use a low cost ArcGIS engine license to support ESRI formats on FME Server 2018 64bit. ArcGIS Engine has the smallest footprint and is the least expensive ESRI license required to support ESRI formats excluding Personal geodatbases, ArcInfo Coverages and maybe a a few others.
The following must be installed on each machine hosting the 64bit FME engines that will be running a seri job in a distributed environment
- Oracle client 64bit
- ArcGis Engine with the Geodatabse Edit Extension (single use license is preferred)
- Esri background geoprocessing 64bit
ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS server or ArcGIS Pro is not mandatory to support ESRI formats in a FME Engine 64bit install.
ArcPro 2.3.3 and FME Server 2019.1; We have been running FME Server with ArcPro since the early 2017 release. We have never had an issue even after upgrading several times. We just upgraded the DEV Server to 2019.1 and now It is giving us the esri error "This 64-bit version of FME requires 64-bit Background Geoprocessing, ArcGIS Pro or ArcGIS Server."
I wonder if there is some changes that is a problem in 2019.1? Any thought?
We have a very similar issue and had to grant administrator privilages to the domain account the FME engine runs as. I think this is a bad idea as the fme engine are now running with full admin privilage on the server so the FMESystemCaller could be used in a workbench access the server. I am thinking a FME server user could even add other accounts to be admin on the server running the FME engines and then RDP into the server. I plan to try to reinstall ESRI software on the FME Engine server when logged in as the user account that the FME engines will run as, then revoke admin privilages.
